As part of Huddersfield Literary Festival's tribute to National Libraries Day and in partnership with the Library Service, Glenys Newton gave a fascinating and very amusing talk about her recent book, "Home Flown" entitled "The Laymamma's Guide to An Empty Nest" to an appreciative audience at the library on the evening of Wednesday 4th February. After a varied career when her son left home to travel, Glenys gave up her job, sold her house, bought a van and retrained as a storyteller. Her book is about the empty nest syndrome when children leave home and parents, usually mothers, have to adapt to a new set of circumstances. Glenys read an extract from her book and finished the talk with a story, demonstrating her skill as a storyteller. A great event!
